Here at The Detox Kitchen we’re big believers that when it comes to food, you should keep it seasonal and keep it local. Eating seasonally simply means eating foods that are harvested at the time that you eat them. These foods not only taste fresher and more vibrant, but they also have significant benefits to your health. An apple picked from British fields at the peak of their harvest will be bursting with vitamins and nutrients, versus an apple picked before it has ripened and travelled across the world before it has reached your plate. During June, fresh basil is vibrant and at its most flavorsome, so make the most of it! Try our Courgetti with Sunflower Seeds and Basil Pesto. Consuming oily fish like mackerel is hugely important for our skin. We suggest eating 2 portions of fish a week, and try to include for 1 oily fish like salmon. It is high in omega 3 and essential fatty acids that act as a natural moisturizer for your skin and helps prevents heart disease.
