With the clocks jumping forward and all this nice weather, it really feels like Spring is in full swing. And it feels great. For years we’ve been told about the negative effects of sunlight but getting a little bit of Vitamin D on that skin of yours can do the world of good.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) or the winter blues is quite simply a lack of sunlight. Many people feel extremely affected by the seasons. Going into work in the dark, sitting in an office and walking home in the dark can really alter your mood. Making the most of the extra sunlight will boost your levels of serotonin and make you feel noticeably brighter.

So instead of hitting that snooze button why don’t you welcome that extra daylight and rise and shine. Without those dark mornings, it makes it much easier to get up and out there exercising. You will notice a considerable difference in your mood getting into this habit. The feeling of the sun and exercise will make you feel energised and happy even before you start your day. And with recipes like this quinoa, apple and goji berry porridge for breakfast, you’ll be skipping to work.

If you really need that extra beauty sleep, then why not make some time to exercise at the end of the day. The extra light in the evenings means the parks are open later and it’s the perfect place to unwind after a hard workday. Several boot camps are scattered around London as well so maybe sign up to one of those to get yourself away from your desk and into the rest of the daylight.

Even if you just use the extra light to wake you naturally or bask in the sun to warm your muscles, the clocks going forward cause a positive change in many people; so get up, get out there and enjoy the light of the coming summer. That’s exactly what we are going to do.
