BEETROOT TO YOURSELF

Beetroot is a really good source of both potassium, betacarotene and folate – and this is what makes beetroot such a great ingredient for this time of year. These nutrients will work hard to cleanse your liver after an indulgent festive season and help you to reset for the new year ahead.

Food

Beetroot is one of my favourite root vegetables with so much to offer in terms of flavour and colour – and most importantly, it’s in season right now. Its deep red hue, slightly earthy flavour and winning nutritional content make it a star ingredient for both warming hot dishes and bright, fresh salads. POTASSIUM

Beetroot is a great source of potassium which is essential for regulating fluid balance and controlling the electrical activity of the heart and other muscles.

BETACAROTENE

Beta carotene is an antioxidant that converts to vitamin A and plays a very important role in health. Beta carotene plays a crucial role in the body’s fight against free radicals and there’s a lot of evidence to support the intake of antioxidants in order to help reach optimal wellness and improve your skin health, giving you that new year glow.

FOLATE

Folate is one of the B-vitamins and is needed to make red and white blood cells in the bone marrow, convert carbohydrates into energy, produce DNA and RNA and it plays an important role in DNA synthesis and repair, encouraging cell and tissue growth.
