Coffee and cacao bliss balls

This is my friend Emily’s recipe. I was at her house feeling particularly low on energy and she gave me a turmeric shot and one of these coffee balls, I ended up having three. They were so good and gave me the boost I needed to carry myself home! These honestly are the best homemade cacao balls I’ve ever had. Be sure to use good quality medjool dates as they will help to hold the balls together, if you use a dryer date then you may need to soak them beforehand to add moisture. We also recommend making sure you have a good mix of seeds, ideally including flaxseeds, hemp and chia seeds with your pumpkin and sunflower for extra omega-3s. Lily x

Makes approx. 12

  • 8 large medjool dates (pips removes)
  • 2 tbsp peanut or almond butter
  • 100g coconut flakes or desiccated coconut
  • 100g seed mix (flaxseeds, pumpkin, sunflower seeds, hemp seeds, chia seeds)
  • 1 tbsp cacao nibs
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 tbsp ground coffee (or coffee alt.)

  1. Combine all the ingredients together in a food processor.
  2. Scoop a large teaspoon of the mix into your hand and roll into a small ball, continue until you’ve used up the mixture.
  3. Place them in the fridge to set then transfer to a container and keep refrigerated.
