Female Faces of the Brand: Alice Lowe

Allow us to introduce Alice, our very own Comms and Community Manager from the team. This International Women's Day, we are celebrating all the wonderful women we work with; we are taking this opportunity to introduce you to some of the fabulous female faces behind the brand. This week, we are also launching a special IWD recipe booklet, featuring a collection of delicious recipes from top female chefs and will be donating to Women for Women International. Read on for more information or to get your hands on the recipe booklet.

Community

I’m Alice, the Senior Comms Manager here at Detox Kitchen. Detox Kitchen’s mission of empowering people through good food really resonates with me, as health and wellbeing are incredibly important to me. Whether it’s through working at Detox Kitchen and supporting people nutritionally with our healthy meal plans, or outside of work where I’m a qualified nutritional therapist and personal trainer, I’m super passionate about helping people become the best version of themselves.

At Detox Kitchen I look after all things comms and community, everything from working with our incredible brand representatives to running community events, and lots in between.

What inspires you?

Making other people feel good! I’m a people person and I feed off others; I am inspired by building communities, by positive reactions from others, and by feeling part of a team.

What does your day usually look like?

I’m an early bird and I love to get up and exercise first thing, usually with my husband. I find it sets me up for the day and I’m always a lot more productive. Then I’ll get to work; my best hours are always pre lunch time so I try to focus on bigger tasks then. When it gets to lunch time I try to go out for a walk and spend some time away from my desk before an afternoon of getting through emails, calls with our team or our amazing brand representatives. If I’m not out seeing friends or family then it’ll be a night relaxing at home. I love cooking so I find it the best way to relax and wind down after work. My husband and I will either be watching a series on TV, or I’m a real bookworm so I’ve always got a book on the go. Then go to sleep and do it all again!

What is your daily non-negotiable?

I have to do some sort of movement, even if it’s a 20 minute walk. I need fresh air or to move my body otherwise I go a bit stir crazy!

3 wellness tips/habits you swear by...

  1. 10,000 steps a day - try to stick to this wherever possible.
  2. Water - I drink around 3 litres of water a day.
  3. Eating the rainbow - I try to make sure I’m eating a big variety of fruits and vegetables throughout the week, it makes me feel good and it’s a nice challenge!

What is your favourite cuisine?

I love Middle Eastern and Mediterranean or Asian dishes - anything with lots of flavour and lots of sharing.

Your favourite DK meal?

It has to be the Teriyaki Salmon.

Dish or recipe you make most often?

My own version of the teriyaki salmon - a go to weeknight dinner!

Death row dinner?

Spaghetti vongole with a glass of wine at a restaurant by the sea. Heaven!

What is your favourite form of movement?

Functional fitness and metabolic conditioning; I love the feeling of feeling strong, and love pushing myself in the gym. I also love reformer pilates and find these two types of movement complement each other well.

What is your favourite quote or mantra?

“Everything will be OK in the end, and if it’s not OK then it’s not the end.” This helped me through some tough times personally, and I find it’s a helpful mantra to always think positively and put things in perspective!
