Female Faces of the Brand: Lucy Spicer

Allow us to introduce Lucy, one of our admirable ambassadors... This International Women's Day, we are celebrating all the wonderful women we work with; we are taking this opportunity to introduce you to some of the fabulous female faces behind the brand. Lucy Spicer is a Psychological Coach, Host of The Journal with Lucy Spicer Podcast, and Founder of the Lucy Spicer Practice - the home of trusted, expert therapists and coaches. Lucy is passionate about empowering her clients to become the best version of themselves by supporting them to understand how to change the way they think and behave. She works closely with Business Owners, Professionals, and Influential Content Creators through 1:1 sessions, online masterclasses and in-person events.

Lucy is delighted to work with The Detox Kitchen as nutrition plays a crucial role in supporting optimal brain function and mental well-being, influencing mood regulation, cognitive performance, and overall mental health.

What inspires you?

My vision. I have always had such a clear vision of what I want to achieve and this inspires me daily to keep showing up and working towards my goals in both my business and personal life. As well as looking forwards, I always remember to look back to celebrate how far I have come. It is important for me to remember that the things I have now are what a younger version of myself wished for.

What does your day usually look like?

I’m detail oriented so will try to keep this brief! I wake up around 7am, make coffee and bring it back to bed where I journal and write out my to-do list for the day (I am a big fan of time blocking). As a founder, every day looks different but will typically be made up of 1:1 client sessions, client check-ins, meeting my operations manager, creating social content and planning podcast episodes. I try to mix days up between working ‘in’ the business and ‘on’ the business as they require different types of energy! I will try to do some sort of movement during the way whether that is rolling out my pilates mat in between clients or going for a walk or run. Every evening I unwind by cooking, putting my phone away and spending quality time with my partner.

What is your daily non-negotiable?

Using my journal every morning and evening, it is a game changer in terms of my mood and motivation.

3 wellness tips/habits you swear by

  1. Journalling (I know I keep repeating this but I am authentic to my brand and it really comes with so many benefits).
  2. Breathwork (the fastest way to regulate your nervous system if you are feeling anxious).
  3. Listening to a podcast (an inspirational podcast episode is such a mood booster!)

What is your favourite cuisine?

This is so close between Italian and Greek… because I love pizza so much I will have to choose Italian.

Your favourite DK meal?

This again is a hard one but if I have to choose then the teriyaki salmon with brown rice, the sauce is just so good (!) Dish or recipe you make most often? I know where my skills lie and that is in helping people not cooking but a staple recipe that I have cooked for years and never get bored of is mediterranean roasted vegetables with feta.

Death row dinner?

An antipasti board to start with lots of warm bread. A goats cheese and caramelized onion pizza, side of truffle and parmesan chips for my main. Followed by my mum’s white chocolate and brioche pudding. I’m salivating as I am writing this. What is your favourite form of movement? I am firmly in my pilates era and loving it.

What is your favourite quote or mantra?

We tend to always expect the worse so I flip this on its head - What if it goes even better than expected?
