My Day on a Plate, Lily Simpson founder of Detox Kitchen

So this is me on a good day. And I tend to try and have a few more good days in the lead up to a holiday, because let’s face it, everyone wants to look and feel good on holiday.

So this is me on a good day. And I tend to try and have a few more good days in the lead up to a holiday, because let’s face it, everyone wants to look and feel good on holiday.

Everyone is different, but my average daily intake ranges from 1,700 to 2,000 calories, depending on how active I am. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are fairly straightforward. Breakfast is always toast with nut butter or avocado, I will have a grain-based lunch to fill me up and generally an egg based dinner. I drink about 8 cups of tea a day, black tea or peppermint tea, and 2 litres of water.

There are two extra things in my food diary that I try to include at least three times a week and that is a green juice and a lentil soup. The green juice is a great way to pack in some extra nutrients, and the lentil soup works wonders on your digestive health.

I always have dinner as soon as I get home, unless I am going to a restaurant. Eating earlier will help your digestive system process your food before you go to sleep, meaning that your body can focus on other important restoration during the night.
