As temperatures continue to soar, it feels like we are reaching the peak of summer. For many of us, this brings the exciting prospect of going away on holiday. Here are our healthy travel hacks to help you feel your best.

Before you go, do a fridge raid
Before you head off, try to use up the ingredients in your fridge to avoid waste. Flatbreads are a great base for a fridge raid as they only require store cupboard ingredients, take 5 minutes to make and you can then top them with any fresh ingredients that you need to use up. Find our flatbread recipe here or watch a step by step on our instagram highlights.

Pack a snack
Having healthy snacks when travelling is always a good idea as you never know when you might need an energy boost and options can be limited. Our favourites include nuts, seeds and dried fruit, all of which can withstand knocking about in your bag! Why not make the speedy tamari seeds from our noodle salad recipe.

BYOB - that’s ‘Bring Your Own (Water) Bottle’!
Staying hydrated is always important but especially so when flying because the air you breathe in the pressurised cabin has very little moisture. Bring your own water bottle and fill it up once you are through security (there are water dispensers after security at most airports; if not, you can always ask at a cafe). Drink plenty on the flight, refilling as necessary. Having a reusable water bottle will undoubtedly prove useful throughout your trip too.

Take a pair of trainers
Packing a pair of trainers means you can include some movement in your day when you’re away, whether that’s a jog along the beach or a walk in the sunshine. These are also great ways to explore new places- you never know what hidden gems you may discover!

Protect your skin
Sunscreen protects your skin from the sun’s harmful rays which cause skin damage and premature ageing. Look out for a sunscreen which protects from both UVA and UVB rays, and apply every couple of hours. Also consider using a higher SPF for your face, which is particularly sensitive to the rays. We’ve been enjoying Pai's all-natural Hello Sunshine: Sensitive Sunscreen. After a day in the sun, it is important to moisturise your skin and if you have slightly over done it (we’ve all been guilty at some point...) apply after sun care.

Disconnect
If you are travelling for pleasure rather than work, why not seize the opportunity to disconnect from the relentless distractions of technology. Set up an ‘out of office’, leave your phone in your room (or at least in your bag) and be more present to enjoy your time away.

Avoid returning home to an empty fridge
Opening the fridge to find not much more than a jar of mustard and half a lemon is a sad sight. To avoid returning to an empty fridge, pre-order one of our packages to have delicious, healthy food delivered to your doorstep!
